-Meet the Photographer-
MEG DAY
O W N E R / P H O T O G R A P H E R
Hey there! I am so excited to be working with you to help make the Bride & Groom’s dream come true! You will find everything you need to know exactly what to expect from myself and my team at the wedding.
Of course if you ever have any questions, please reach out. I am always happy to help!
-What to Expect-
Photography Team
Depending on the wedding, I may be arriving just myself, or with a team of additional shooters and lighting assistants. I (Meg) am the lead Photographer and I am the one who will be directing all media coverage for the day. My team and I love to talk to everyone, so please feel welcome to come and talk to us during the slower parts of the day!
Where to Look
Consider us your secret paparazzi! You never need to worry about looking at the camera throughout the day unless we’re doing portraits. Pretending the cameras are not there is best for photos (make sure you still keep a happy and soft expression though). When walking down the aisle for example, it’s typically best to just look forward down the aisle or look to your walking partner or the guests. While it’s best to visually ignore the cameras, you should still keep an ear out for my voice throughout the day because I may need to give you some sort of guidance to get a better shot. We also love taking requested shots from the bridal party & parents if they fit in with the timeline!
Keep the Getting Ready Areas Clean(ish)
If we are taking getting ready photos, please try to keep all your items on one side of the room (typically the side where the enterence door is). This helps with having picture-perfect getting ready shots with no distracting messes in the background.
Getting Ready Shots
Groomsmen: Guys typically need more staging for getting ready photos than the girls do, so we will need to work together to capture great shots that the bride & groom will love. When I come in to shoot I will quickly introduce myself and my team, set up lighting if neccessary, begin giving direction & shooting. To prep for when myself and/or my team get there, you'll just need to get dressed without your vests, jackets, ties, boutonnières, watches, jewelry, cufflinks and hats. We'll shoot those together. After the guys are ready you can let me know and we'll begin a super quick round of photos!
Bridesmaids: I typically shoot the girls in a much more relaxed fashion. It's usually more chatoic when the girls are getting ready, and staging things is often unrealistic. You can continue to get ready like normal, and just keep an ear out for me suggesting a pose for a real quick shot. I do not get shots focusing on your face until your makeup is done, but I may still take shots during the process of your makeup being done to give to the makeup artist for their business (I shoot extra photos for vendors as a gift). Those images will not be in the final gallery.
Help Speed Up Group Portraits
The hardest part of the day as the photographer are the group portraits. As you can imagine, getting a large group of mildly intoxicated people to listen to someone they have never met before is pretty difficult. You can greatly help by listening to myself and my team for direction on where to be and what to do. With your help and cooperation, the group portraits part of the day can go by really quickly and then you can get back to enjoying the reception!
Silly Faces & Photobombing
I love a good sense of humor, and I am so happy to get some silly shots for you! If you want a quick photobomb shot, please quickly allow me to capture it, then immediately move on so I can get the shots that I am there for as well. Silly faces are also fun and are great for a gallery! Please also consider that the bride & groom may want a more natural expression too, so if you want a silly face or pose, doing a natural expression as well would be a good idea.
Guest Photography
The bride and groom have invested in having their wedding professionally captured so that you can simply enjoy the whole day. To honor their wedding wishes and their photography contract, please do not take photos during the ceremony or major events during the reception, like: grand entrance, first dances, cake cutting, etc.
Have Questions?
I am always here to help! Let me know what questions you have and I’ll get back to you asap.
